What would happen if everyone could read and write?

What would happen if everyone could think for themselves?

Our belief is that injustice will unravel in the face of education. Instead of accepting backwards ideologies, if the people of developing nations could achieve a level of education where they're taught to be independent thinkers, then gender inequality and social inequality will cease to exist.

Unfortunately, over 16% of the world's population is illiterate. Though 16% might seem like a harmless amount, it is a staggering number; approximately 775 million people (over twice the population of the United States) throughout the world do not have the ability that we all take for granted: the ability to read and write. The United Nations even declared literacy a basic human right; we take it as our goal to give these people the gift of knowledge.

Perhaps more revealing is that 80% of the world population suffer for inadequate or no education. That's more than 5 billion human beings who never make it past junior high. That's 5 billion people lacking adequate teachers, textbooks, and, too many times, a place to learn.

That is where we come in. Knowledge for Humanity is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to promote literacy and global education with an unique focus on teaching independent thinking. We aspire to promote literacy and quality education for the world. We hope to be the change that we wish to see. Our team is truly passionate about making a better place, and we need your help. Help us help the world.
